Google Wants You to Highlight Every Suspicious Text Message

The claim: Google announces that its Circle to Search feature can now analyse suspicious text messages for potential scams by long-pressing the home button to retrieve AI insights.

The reality: This merely reroutes a standard screenshot query through a Gemini API model, forcing users on a Pixel 8 or Galaxy S24 to manually hunt down phishing attempts one blurry notification bubble at a time.

Why should I care? You shouldn't
Asking users to manually vet their own phishing texts with a home button gesture solves nothing that existing carrier filters do not already catch.
