Claude Cowork Gets Its Own Browser

Anthropic has updated its desktop application by adding a dedicated web browser directly into Claude Cowork. Instead of relying solely on browser extensions that hook into your personal browsing sessions, the AI can now spin up an isolated virtual browser to handle web navigation, data gathering, and form filling independently while you work on other things.

• AI web automation no longer requires sharing your personal browser tabs, history, or saved passwords with the assistant.
• The built-in browser remains vulnerable to prompt injection attacks hiding inside web pages, meaning malicious sites could theoretically hijack the AI.
• Administrators can manage the feature across organizational accounts, though the system currently runs primarily on Pro, Team, and Enterprise desktop plans.
