Bureaucrats Rejoice, Claude for Government Has Arrived

Anthropic has officially rolled out Claude for Government for federal and state agencies, wrapping its agentic coding and document-wrangling capabilities in a FedRAMP High authorized environment. Public sector employees can now use Claude for Government to review RFPs, process casework, and modernize legacy IT systems without technically breaking procurement rules.

  • Agencies get access to standard commercial features alongside strict governance controls like audit logs, SSO integration, and two-person approval requirements.
  • Pricing uses prepaid usage caps rather than traditional per-seat fees, sparing procurement officers from embarrassing cost-overrun hearings.
  • Early access features like the Claude Code command-line interface and Microsoft 365 integration are also filtering down to public servants.

Why should I care? You shouldn't
Unless you write grants for a living, this is just standard enterprise software dressed up in government compliance jargon.
