Apple platform open models arrive to solve nothing new

The claim: Hugging Face has released AnySpeechRecognizer and AnyDecisionModel as open models designed to run efficiently on Apple platforms for speech and decision-making tasks.

The reality: Developers still need to configure Core ML conversions, manage battery drain on an iPhone 15 Pro, and write custom wrappers just to avoid paying OpenAI fractions of a cent per API call.

Why should I care? You shouldn't
Another pair of open models requiring custom integration work while existing APIs remain cheaper and easier to deploy.
